After months of design and engineering, CHAUVET® is gearing up to launch its most sophisticated moving heads to date, the Legend™ 1200E Spot and the Legend™ 1200E Wash. The two luminaires are set to debut in November at LDI 2009, Booth 183, in Orlando.
“We have invested significant time and resources building and fine-tuning these products for the touring market and we are thrilled at the results and their reception during road testing,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of CHAUVET®.

Several prototypes undertook months of abusive in-house testing and rigorous road tests, which ended with the final products undertaking a five-city tour with the KC & The Sunshine Band in August and September.
The Grammy award winning group is known for high energy, up tempo shows that incorporate funk, R&B and disco with quick lighting plot changes. The crew included four Legend™ 1200E Wash and 10 Legend™ 1200E Spot units in performances in New Jersey, Connecticut, Indiana, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Lighting Director Lenny Lindsey said the Legend™ moving heads matched the band's needs. "The output was incredible, the optics are intense and if you fire a gobo through the air, the texture is astonishing," he said. Lindsay also liked the fact that the fixtures were cool to the touch "even when they were running full blast," and “intuitive and easy to get through” when it comes to programming.
The Legend™ 1200E Spot features 23 or 31 channels of DMX control, while the Wash has 16 or 21 channels. Both offer fully electronic ballast and power supply, the most up-to-date Philips 1,200-watt FastFit™ lamp, and a powerful output (measured at of 84,000 lux @ 4m for the Wash and 84,000 lux @ 2m for the Spot). Modular construction makes for easy servicing.

Rick Raymond, KC & The Sunshine Band’s Touring and Production manager, is taken by the fixtures partly because they are "considerably quieter than other fixtures," he said. "These lights can compete on the world stage with anything out there."
