FAT
BEAM™ TECHNOLOGY REVOLUTIONIZES LASERS
| |
For
the first time in the USA, you can now operate high-powered lasers
without a special variance from the FDA, thanks to the newly unveiled
Fat Beam™ Technology by CHAUVET. Usually, only lasers up
to 4.95mW can be legally operated without a special waiver. Not
anymore. CHAUVET has incorporated the technology in the newly
launched Scorpion™
LGX, Scorpion™ Scan and Scorpion™
RG-55. All three lasers feature powerful 10mW laser diodes
yet require no special waiver. “This breakthrough should
have a profound effect on laser shows. It is hard to imagine a
DJ, club installer or lighting designer who wouldn’t be
seduced by the instant availability of these high-impact lasers,”
said CHAUVET CEO Albert Chauvet.
Everything about these lasers is bold, from design to engineering.
A novel design of the laser diodes and wider-than-usual beams
create a dramatic increase in perceived brightness, up to 10 times
that of standard lasers. The Scorpion™RG55
10mW, a red and green laser, and the
Scorpion™ Scan 10mW green laser are presented in striking
metallic red casings. They are both DMX-controlled and can perform
over 500 laser effects achieved by manipulating the shape of beams,
the size of over 200 patterns and the speed of movements. Scorpion™
LGX is a highly portable, 10mW, linkable green laser with
wireless remote control. It operates in sound active, automatic
or master/slave mode and features 80 pre-set patterns. The three
Scorpions conform to FDA and IEC standards for class IIIR lasers.
Surely, laser lighting will never be the same. For more information,

EVERLAST
PRODUCTIONS: HIGH TECH RESOURCEFULNESS

Velocity
Youth Center, FT.Lauderdale, Florida |
| Everlast
Productions took on a daunting challenge when it tackled a
lighting design and installation project for the prominent First
Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. Pastors at the 98-year-old
landmark church wanted to create a cutting-edge youth center and
gave designers carte blanche to select |
fixtures but with one condition: Be economical. A tight budget
severely limited Everlast’s
ability to draw from its list of established and trusted manufacturers.
CHAUVET easily stood out because it offered affordable luminaires
with all the features that designers wanted, said Everlast
Ligthing Director Jeremy Breger. Everlast
was able to bring in 12 Trackscan™
scanners, 6 Legend™ 250RX moving yokes, 84 par
66 cans and 48 par
56 par cans, to the amazement of the center’s Multi-media
Director David Fitzgerald. Given the small budget,
Fitzgerald had expected something “more in the line of
par
cans and a few effects." Instead, " They took
us a whole notch far beyond what we could have had, ”
he said. Everlast
Productions was hooked on CHAUVET, too. It was the first
time it had used CHAUVET lights in a major church install and,
not without hesitation. But lingering doubts were soon overcome

Since then, the premiere production company has made use of CHAUVET

MUSIC
TRENDS ROCKS DJ EXPO
|
Music
Trends’ owner Bob Savarese is still agog over his company’s
success at this year’s DJ Expo in Atlantic City. The Long
Island, NY-based store was the sole exhibitor of CHAUVET lights
at the show, which helps explain why the booth was so popular
among show attendees. “ You have to have the right products
and they have to be affordable,” Savarese said. “
CHAUVET is now the preferred brand. We had the busiest booth.
DJs kept coming and coming. They tell you their whole rig is CHAUVET.
”
The allure of the CHAUVET brand got a boost from a carefully orchestrated
presentation, a team effort of Music
Trends and CHAUVET who helped sponsor the booth. “ Product
placement is very important,” Savarese said. It is not enough
to pick the right products. They also have to be displayed properly.”
As an example, Savarese said changing the placement of slow-selling
green lasers during the show made all the difference. “
We had put them on one side of the truss, they didn’t do
anything.” At the suggestion of CHAUVET sales manager Philip
Lentini, the lasers were moved to a more visible spot. “Boom,
goodbye, all of a sudden, sold,” Savarese said.
The quality of attendees and their growing familiarity with lightings
also fueled the show’s success, said Lentini. “ DJs
are playing closer attention to intelligent lighting now and lighting
has become more important to them. They keep up with new technology
such as ILS™
or LEDs.
That’s why our ILS™
fixtures did very well at the show. DJtube™
sold out. The CHAUVET brand was leading in terms of excitement
and vibe, thanks to the hard work, support and product knowledge
of Music
Trends.” |
