CHAUVET TO LIGHT OZZFEST STAGE

(Los Angeles, CA) - Shortly after Sharon Osbourne made the big announcement that this year’s Ozzfest is free (!), organizers turned to sponsors to provide added support for the festival's new incarnation as a “FREEfest.” In stepped liquor powerhouse Jägermeister, offering its own state-of- the art mobile stage for use at the summer’s biggest heavy metal festival. A long time Ozzfest supporter, Jägermeister enlisted CHAUVET for lighting.

“We are incredibly jazzed that Jägermeister is bringing their innovative and state-of-the-art mobile stage on this history-making tour,” says Jane Holman, Vice President of Touring for Live Nation, Ozzfest’s organizer. All second stage acts will play on the Jägermeister stage, a fully self-contained stage hauled cross country by a custom Show hauler, complete with a full audio sound system provided by JVC Mobile and powered by one whopping generator. The “revolutionary” stage, as Osbourne dubs it, measures 34’ long, 16’ deep, and 20’ high. The entire PA system, provided by Peavey Electronics and Schecter Guitars, will be hung for optimum sound. Lighting will mostly consist of CHAUVET COLORpaletteTM and LEDrainTM 56 washes, LED white Technostrobes, ScorpionTM lasers. The lights will be controlled via ShowXpressTM software.

Bands will play the Jägermeister stage every day from 1-7 p.m. In addition to Ozzfest being free, this year will also see the return of Ozzy to the main stage as headliner. He’ll be unleashing new songs from his forthcoming album. It’s going to be a groundbreaking show, and Jägermeister will be there every thundering step of the way. Lineups and ticket information to be announced as details become available. The first show is slated for July 7th in Los Angeles. More dates and cities to be announced. PRODUCT INNOVATION:

A RADICAL POINT OF VUETM

While others still look to LED technology just for color washing effects, forward-thinking CHAUVET engineers have kept busy developing spectacular projection and mid-air effects as well.  The result is the VUE™, a line of highly portable LED-fitted effects that changes everything about effect lighting, as you know it. CHAUVET designers conceived a special Fresnel style lens that condenses the light from each LED in the array and then projects it in the form of individual light beams and spots, similarly to a standard moonflower but with more control. Hence you get LED-induced, color-saturated, room filling beams cutting sharply through the fog in ways never seen before. The units are extremely lightweight and feature wide beam angles so set up is a snap and you need to carry even fewer lights to fill your venue. All are DMX-controllable or will operate in stand-alone mode. The low power consumption of these fixtures makes it east to run multiple units on a single circuit. And as with all LEDs, overheating is not a concern.  You don’t have to break a sweat to run your lights all night. Nor do you need to think about changing bulbs anytime soon: the average life of these LEDs is 100,000 hours.

The Vue™ I  is the smallest and lightest in the series, weighing less than 4 lbs. The Vue™ I is fitted with 84 red, green and blue LEDs, each creating their own beam. It is a go-anywhere light, sure to become a mainstay on any portable lighting rig You can also link it with the Vue™ II, a bigger version, featuring more LEDs and a larger frontal lens, which in itself creates a unique, eye-catching effect. The Vue™ II is fitted with 183 LEDs (60 red, 36 green, and 66 blue and has linkable power. The Vue™ III has 7 individually controllable clusters of 67 LEDs, for a total of 469 LEDs, each projecting an individual beam  (280 red, 63 green, 126 blue). As with the Vue™ II, you can daisy chain power and cut back on the number of outlets and power strips used.

All three groundbreaking fixtures are priced so everyone can enjoy them and consider retiring expensive, heavy, fragile, hot, short-lived effects to the recycle bin! Pinch yourself, you are awake.
