Illusionists Kevin & Caruso Rely on CHAUVET Lighting

When illusionists Kevin & Caruso moved into the Ramada Marco Polo Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, FL they knew they needed lighting that would help portray the excitement and drama of their award-winning show and provide as much bang for the buck as possible. The duo with the help of S.E.A.L. turned to CHAUVET.

In their high energy “New Wave Magic Show”, which has been described as “Harry Potter meets Cirque du Soleil”, CHAUVET scanners, PAR cans, and foggers play a critical role. Kevin says of CHAUVET, “Our CHAUVET lighting can be relied upon show after show and deliver the effects we want and need to create a great environment for our performance”. Elaborately costumed showgirls dance and intermix with the duo levitating, making wild animals appear and disappear, prove that Elvis is still alive, and even create a blizzard in South Florida.
The CHAUVET Trackscans were put to the ultimate test when hurricanes Katrina & Wilma came calling last year. The theatre was severely damaged, with part of the roof even being peeled back. Many of the set pieces and other props were destroyed. Everyone feared the worst when the crew opened up the CHAUVET lights and water poured out of several of the scanners. While not rated or recommended for wet environments, the fixtures fired right back up after drying out and continue to run flawlessly.
Kevin & Caruso, whose show has recently been named South Florida’s longest consecutively running production, remain steadfast CHAUVET supporters. The duo is planning on purchasing more CHAUVET fixtures for the next generation of their show. When asked about CHAUVET, Kevin said, “When they (CHAUVET) say every fixture they sell has extraordinary Value, Innovation and Performance, they mean it. When I have a question, someone from CHAUVET is always available and eager to help me, and that means the world to me.”

CHAUVET PREMIERE:
COLORtubeTM EQ LED Audio Visualizer

LED-fitted COLORtubeTM EQ offers users the unique possibility of mounting a 32-band, real-time sound frequency visualizer, ideal for any venue where a highly visible and dynamic display is wanted. See and show off your sound.
Each tube can be addressed to respond to one of 32 frequencies, from bass to treble, very much in the pulsating manner of a graphic equalizer on your stereo.

Each tube houses 144 blue, red and green diodes, weighs under 4 lbs and is 40-inch long and 3-inch wide. The system features 16 pre-set patterns, chases, color flows with variation plus blackout.

An optional controller, sold separately, allows users to select specific colors, making this ideal for retail, sports and corporate events where brand identification is vital.
The tubes are sold in packs of four. Using just four tubes and selecting the first four addresses would display the four lower frequencies in the band. If you wanted to reflect frequencies across the entire sound wave, you would need to spread addresses in eight-digit increments. To do the same with 8 tubes, you would need to spread addresses in four-digit increments and in 2-digit increments with 16 tubes.

The tubes are water resistant, sustain wide temperature changes and are a snap to install, perfect for outdoor events and mobile functions. Operation is silent and there is no duty cycle. They are power-linkable. The diodes’ life averages 100,000 hours. COLORtubeTM EQ

AXEtreme Fest 2006 Brings Rock n’ Roll to Canadian Schools

Major Canadian retailer AXE Music’s annual "AXEtremefest" High School Band Showcase recently came to a close for 2006 and was, once again, a resounding success.

This year’s AXEtremefest Tour reached High Schools in every corner of Alberta, and featured hundreds of aspiring young musicians playing for thousands of their peers, teachers and families. Equipment from tour sponsor CHAUVET ensured everyone looked their best. Professional sound and lighting technicians were also on hand to help the artists get the best out of themselves and the equipment.

Each school is free to use the AXEtremefest event in whichever way they see fit: some schools organize a "Battle of the Bands", some use it simply as a showcase for local talent, and others use the event for fundraising for school and/or charitable purposes. One thing stays the same: the equipment, travel and crew is supplied at no charge to the school by AXE Music.

"Each and every year, the students and staff involved with this event are completely blown away with the gear that we bring to these events, and 2006 was definitely no exception," commented Rod Harder, Marketing Manger with AXE Music. "This year's tour featured TWO complete traveling productions--including two separate crews--with premium sound, lighting and backline gear worth nearly half a million dollars. Everything was supplied by AXE Music at no cost to the schools involved. This incredible experience is made a reality thanks in no small part to the vision and involvement of the equipment sponsors for 2006, including CHAUVET.

AXEtremefest not only offers young musicians a chance to perform on a professional concert-ready PA with top line gear, it also gives them the opportunity to see what goes into making an event like this a reality. All the students from the participating schools get involved in the set-up and tear down of each event as well, helping the AXE crew when needed, so it’s not just the next generation of rockstars that are involved, but also the lighting and sound engineers of tomorrow. This hands-on approach to making each show happen gives the students an investment in making the show their own, and the AXE lighting and sound crew take every opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with the students, and make them a crucial part of the success of each and every show. CHAUVET is proud to be a sponsor of the AXEtremefest tour and congratulates AXE Music on another outstanding year!
