Snoopy Starlight Spectacular Shines

BUENA PARK, Calif. – CHAUVET®, a leading manufacturer of LED lighting, announces over 150 CHAUVET® fixtures illuminated Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular at Knott's Berry Farm located in Buena Park, Calif. The nighttime continuous light show, up during the summer months for the next five years, was installed by CHAUVET® dealer and lighting designer Andrew Strain, owner of Blue Haze Entertainment. It was filled with Peanuts' three-dimensional figures, themed music, sound effects, voice-overs and, most importantly, lights.

“I was able to go crazy,” said Strain. “It was a show for kids, so I had a lot of freedom to use as much color and movement as I could. And I had a blast doing it. I created something the whole family could walk through and enjoy—something which added to the overall park experience.”

Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular was just part of this year’s Peanuts 60th Anniversary celebration. During the park’s “dark Wednesdays”, the Charles M. Schulz Theatre presented an ice skating production called “Everyone Loves Snoopy”. Plus, the Camp Snoopy Theatre featured a live musical review called “Hooray for Hollywood”.

Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular was made up of five themed display areas. Camp Snoopy, featuring Snoopy and Woodstock, was home base for the continuous light show and featured COLORdash™ Accent fixtures illuminating the tents, a Bob™ LED as the campfire and COLORado™ 2 TOUR and COLORado™ 6P fixtures lit the waterfalls behind the camp.

Schroeder, playing his beloved piano, was lit by MiN™ Wash lights and used Pro-D6™ dimmers to change the base’s piano keys, as well as the musical notes surrounding him, along with the music. Linus’s space adventure featured a spaceship, lit by MiN™ Wash lights and MiN™ Spot lights set to chase, and a textured background of Scorpion™ Storm FX lasers threw effect patterns into the trees during “lift off”. Sally in the Sixties featured truss towers holding COLORado™ 1-Tri TOUR fixtures.

“Power consumption was a concern for the park,” said Strain. “I strived to use as many LED fixtures as possible, from Lucy in Hollywood to wrapping all the trees in holiday string lights. CHAUVET® makes some great LED fixtures. I love to add washes with COLORado™ 1-Tri TOUR. They have great color mixing, durability and an amazing, even beam spread. I’m addicted to them.”
