Update easily and economically with COLORado™

SUGAR HILL, Georgia – To transform a worship center with a limited budget, Wes Gay had to be creative. Gay turned to the CHAUVET® Professional COLORado™ 1-Tri Tour static wash light to punctuate the stage of a multifunctional space the Sugar Hill Church uses for its services, performances and other functions.

Twelve COLORado™ 1-Tri Tour fixtures light six panels of fabric measuring 20’ high and 4’ wide. Creating a backdrop of colorful columns, each panel uses two lights—one as uplight and one as downlight. Positioned close to the fabric, the low-heat, LED-fitted wash lights are an ideal and economical choice for this setup.

“The coverage is more than adequate,” said Gay, who oversees technological services for Sugar Hill Church, with a focus on lighting. “We’re not a high production congregation, but it’s a simple change that adds a dramatic shift. The new look and feel of the stage symbolizes a season of change and moving forward.”

Like many smaller houses of worship, mindful of a budget and operating expenses, updating doesn’t have to come at a high cost. Quality lighting fixtures—and in this case, a few well-placed fabric panels—can enhance an existing space. It’s an easy-to-achieve change that yields high impact.

“Many members of our congregation are amazed at how much of a difference strong color makes to our stage,” said Gay. “And you don’t need to spend a ton of money either. One of the biggest challenges for the last year or so has been lighting. The fixtures initially installed in the facility were not high quality, and an actual lighting system wasn’t part of the design.”

When some funds became available, Gay began the search for quality and affordable lighting upgrades. After attending a lighting workshop at Echo Conference, Gay found a solution: COLORado™ 1-Tri Tour.

“We knew we needed quality fixtures that were affordable,” said Gay. “After meeting with the helpful lighting professionals at TPS [Televison Production Service], we made our initial purchase of 12 fixtures. Along with the fabric, it’s been the best money we’ve ever spent on any one thing. The impact of color in the worship setting has created texture and depth to the stage. It positively affects people.”
