The Marlin Hotel
Historic Art Deco Architecture
Three floors of historic art deco architecture have received the ILUMINARC treatment. The Marlin Hotel, on Collins Avenue in the prime area known as South Beach, has seen a recent renovation. The gutted interior is now a sleek Miami Modern-style resort, its exterior refurbished to the lilac luster of its original art deco heyday. All of which has been illuminated by ILUMINARC LED-fitted lighting solutions, specified by Geoff Farrell of D’light Studios, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and controlled by ILUMINARC Logic system—working seamlessly with Savant.

The iHouse
Deconstructing Pre-Fab Green Construction
The i-house is one part green, modern build; one part sleek, Scandinavian design; and one part intimate, lean-living abode. All three parts come together to make the coolest mobile home you’ve ever seen. Nestled in a retirement community in Lantana, Fla., is a recently built i-house specially fitted with 21 ILUMINARC ILUMIPOD LΩGIC 12 fixtures. Of all the green touches used during the creation of an i-house, incorporating the 17 ILUMIPOD LΩGIC 12 RGB fixtures as down lighting throughout was by far the most colorful. The ILUMIPOD LΩGIC 12 fixture is housed in cast and extruded aluminum and emits 50,000 hours of light from 18 LEDs.

“Updating anything historic is always a challenge,” Geoff Farrell of D’light Studios said of this three story historic art deco architecture. “Bringing something into the now with crisp, clean lines—modernizing an existing structure—can be an undertaking. Adding color changing lights to juxtapose a stark landscape, using ILUMINARC fixtures, was the best solution.”
